To address this, Honda aimed to develop a mobile application that would alleviate these concerns by providing real-time information and support to EV drivers.

Honda R&D Europe’s primary goal was to reduce range anxiety, a significant barrier to widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). By creating a user-friendly mobile application, Honda aimed to empower EV drivers with real-time information, efficient route planning, and seamless integration with in-car systems. The objective was not only to enhance the driving experience but also to build consumer trust and confidence in EV technology, ultimately supporting Honda's broader mission of promoting sustainable transportation solutions.

The solution: functional Proof of Concept (PoC) mobile application

Collaborating closely with Honda R&D Europe, Digitalist refined Honda's initial concept into a functional Proof of Concept (PoC) mobile application. The application offers features designed to reduce range anxiety, including:

  • Real-Time Range Estimation: Utilizing data from the EV Database and Google Maps Platform, the app provides accurate range predictions based on current battery levels and driving conditions.
  • Optimal Route Planning: Integration with HERE Isoline API enables the app to suggest routes that maximize efficiency and highlight available charging stations along the way.
  • Seamless In-Vehicle Integration: The application supports Apple CarPlay, allowing drivers to access features directly through the vehicle's infotainment system.
